Notes calendar and reminders
Plan Notes events, reminders, and task deadlines from the calendar view and home agenda.
Calendar answers “when?” while Tasks answers “what next?”. Use both when a commitment has a due date: a task records the work, and a linked calendar event makes the date visible in planning views.
Views
| View | Use |
|---|---|
| Week | Plan timed and all-day commitments on a seven-day time grid (desktop). |
| Day | Focus on one day — same time grid on desktop; on phone this is Agenda (multi-day list). |
| Month / Year | Overview and jump into a day. |
Week is the desktop planning canvas. Day is for daily focus and drill-down (including from week column headers).
Create an event
Open Calendar from Notes. Use New event or quick-add presets (timed event, all-day, deadline, meeting). On the day/week time grid, drag a time range to create a timed event.
After saving, open the event from the day view and verify its date, time zone, label, and link to any note or task. On mobile, use the agenda list when the time grid is too dense for precise planning.
Reminders
Timed events with label type: reminder show on the calendar. Use Help to propose a reminder — you confirm before it is created.
Task deadlines
The Task deadline preset creates a linked vault task (in the Deadlines note under /notes/tasks) and an all-day calendar event on the same due date. The event and task stay linked so you can open either surface from the same deadline.
Use Task deadline for “finish the methods section by Friday”; use a timed event for “meet the supervisor at 10:00”. Avoid creating both manually for the same deadline, because the preset already creates the linked pair.
Vault tasks vs calendar
Markdown vault tasks live under /notes/tasks. Calendar events cover timed commitments and all-day markers. The Task deadline preset creates both and links them; other presets create calendar events only.
Subscribe to Outlook / Teams (read-only)
- In Outlook or Teams, publish or copy your ICS subscription URL (often starts with
https://outlook.office365.com/...orwebcal://...). - Open Calendar → Feeds & reminders.
- Under Outlook / Teams (ICS), paste the URL, add an optional label, and click Subscribe.
Imported events are read-only in Lattuce — you can view them on the calendar but cannot edit or delete them here. Use Refresh to pull the latest feed; subscriptions also refresh automatically about every 30 minutes when you open the calendar.
Requires signing in with your platform account. The server must have GOOGLE_CALENDAR_TOKEN_ENC_KEY configured to encrypt stored feed URLs.
Troubleshooting
- The event is not on the expected day: check the account time zone and whether the item is timed or all-day.
- A deadline has no task: reopen the event and use the Task deadline preset for a new linked pair.
- An external event cannot be edited: that is expected for ICS subscriptions; edit it in Outlook or Teams and refresh the feed.
- The feed will not save: ask an operator to verify the encryption key and feed URL, then resubscribe if the URL changed.
