Learner is for language acquisition, not a general AI tutor for arbitrary subjects. For grounded Q&A over your course PDFs or exam prep, use Study (/study) or Revise on a paper — see Study vs Learner.

The learning loop is simple: read a short passage, save only useful words, recall them later, and return to the passage with more context. A card is a prompt for retrieval, not a replacement for reading.

Reader

Open imported content from your library. Select words or phrases to save vocabulary.

Start with a passage you can mostly understand. Use the surrounding sentence when saving a word so the card preserves meaning, register, and grammar. Re-open the source after a review session to meet the word in context again.

Spaced repetition

Review due cards from Review (/learn/review). Scheduling follows your performance on each card.

A reliable review session

  1. Open Review and work through due cards before adding many new ones.
  2. Try to recall the meaning or usage before revealing the answer.
  3. Mark the result honestly; the scheduler uses that signal to choose the next interval.
  4. Suspend a noisy or ambiguous card and fix its source sentence instead of repeatedly guessing.

Short, frequent sessions usually produce cleaner signals than a single large backlog. If cards feel disconnected, return to Import content into Learner and save vocabulary with more context.

Goals and recommendations

Set learning goals in Learner settings; the hub may suggest next content based on progress.

Use a goal to choose the next action, not to measure your worth. A useful goal names a language, a realistic session size, and the kind of practice you want—reading, vocabulary, or review. Recommendations are optional; select material that matches your level and available time.
