Study vs Learner — which is the “tutor”?
Decide between Study and Learner for grounded subject tutoring, exam preparation, reading practice, and vocabulary review.
Choose by the material you want to learn, not by the word “tutor”. Study reasons over course and research sources; Learner helps you acquire a language through reading and recall. The two libraries, progress loops, and source requirements are intentionally separate.
Short answer
- Study / Revise — grounded Q&A and exam prep over your uploaded sources (courses, papers).
- Learner — language learning (import text, vocabulary words, spaced repetition). Not a general AI tutor for arbitrary subjects.
If you want “teach me philosophy / train an ML model / prepare for my history exam using my PDFs,” use Study or Revise, not Learner.
If you want “help me understand this French article / save these Japanese words / review yesterday’s vocabulary,” use Learner. If the same material is a course PDF or a paper with citations, use Study or Writer instead.

- Is the goal a foreign language? Start in Learner.
- Is the evidence a course collection or exam syllabus? Start in Study.
- Is the evidence attached to one manuscript? Open Writer Revise and follow Study and Revise.
- Do you need citations in an authored document? Keep the source and drafting workflow in Writer.
Tutor marketplace
A human tutor marketplace is not part of the current Learner workflow; it is unrelated to the Study AI Tutor.

Do not move a language-learning shelf into Study just to get a tutor-style answer, or move exam PDFs into Learner just to create vocabulary cards. Keeping the source in the right product preserves the correct review, citation, and progress model.
