Lattuce at lattuce.app is in alpha — what that means for you
The public Lattuce deployment is now labeled alpha. Here is what works today, what may change, and how to give feedback while we ship toward a stable release.
Lattuce at lattuce.app is in alpha. That means the product is real enough for serious work — papers, sources, notes, study — but we are still polishing the experience and shipping improvements often.
This post is a straight answer to: What can I rely on today, and what might still change?

Who this is for
| You are… | Why the alpha label matters |
|---|---|
| Trying Lattuce for the first time | You get honest expectations before you import a big library or start a thesis chapter |
| Coming back after launch week | The product grew quickly; alpha means “usable,” not “finished” |
| Sharing it with your household or lab | Everyone sees the same alpha site — the label is about polish, not whether the site is “real” |
What “alpha” means here
Alpha is earlier than beta or “stable.” For Lattuce it means:
| Expectation | Detail |
|---|---|
| Core workflows work | Papers, library, notes, and study are in daily use |
| Rough edges remain | Layout, mobile, and some import types still improve week to week |
| Things may change | We will warn you before big changes to exports or saved work — we do not silently delete your data |
| Pricing is clear | Pricing shows the Free / Pro / Advanced ladder. Payments are not live yet (alpha) — self-serve checkout is off; early households may get temporary Pro (limited slots) |
| Not a Notion replacement | Lattuce is for research and writing — see Notion vs Lattuce |
You will see an Alpha badge and a short banner on the site. Closing the banner only hides the reminder — you are still on the alpha release.
What you can use with confidence today
| Area | What works |
|---|---|
| Writer | Paper projects, writing grounded in your PDFs, citation checks, export to Word |
| Library | Upload and organize PDFs, search your sources |
| Notes | Markdown notes, links between notes, graph and board views |
| Study | Guided courses and digests over your reading |
| Household sign-in | One shared account scope for your household |
| Where to use it | lattuce.app — see availability and upcoming apps |
Translation, advanced research missions, and Lingo (lingo.lattuce.app) are available too; some need extra setup or keys. You do not need everything on day one.
What is still in motion
- Live co-editing with others — limited today, not Google Docs–style everywhere yet
- Phone and desktop apps — in progress; browser is the main path for now
- Learner and translation — improving how they connect to Writer
- Very large libraries — usable today; we keep making import and search faster
We share updates on the blog when major pieces land.
Moving toward beta
We will drop the alpha label when we are comfortable promising slower breaking changes and broader testing on mobile, billing, and imports. Expect a blog post when we promote the channel — we will not change it quietly.
Give feedback
Alpha is the right time to tell us what confused you, what broke, or what felt missing.
When you report a bug, say what you were doing (which page, which file type) and that you were on lattuce.app. That helps us reproduce it quickly.

Bottom line
lattuce.app in alpha means: open for real research work, with eyes open about polish and pace. Start a paper, import a few sources, and tell us what breaks — that is how we earn a beta label.
